Go to track inspector and change type: [poly, mono, sliced, rhytmic, etc]. Sometimes it sounds better depending on the source material.
I agree it's no Ableton Live, or it doesn't preserve formants if you transpose, but boy it's fun
I know, but if you wanted to change the level of steps 1,4,5,8,9,12,13 & 16 where some of of the steps are on the other rows?
There's no way to select those individual steps and adjust them in the pattern sequencer. It's easy in the piano roll though
What’s weird is the full selection is available on some instruments on the iOS version as well, but it’s missing on most. And only with the studio horns. The strings have them all. But only 2-4 of the horns instruments do. May write them about this and see if I get an answer.
I have been considering doing the same. LP4i is akin to having the best of Cubasis 3 combined with the best of BM3 in terms of fun and productivity. It is also super stable which is very impressive for a ver. 1.0. As far as the MPC One, I've only had mine for about 6 months but it has mostly been collecting dust since I got LP4i. The standalone plugins for the MPC One pale in comparison to the incredibly vast variety of plugins available on the Ipad and they are wayyy overpriced. Running them on an M1 with 2Tb and 16Gb RAM vs. the puny MPC One processor which also needs to phone home to Akai periodically to validate plugins (ughhh) makes this a pretty easy call.
No Flex Pitch means no purchase for me. Waiting for the point versions.
I think that's just a matter of time as imported sessions from desktop Logic with flex-time and flex-pitch edits play back perfectly in Logic Pro for iPad. There's just no editor for it...
Fantastic, thanks for the info!
Oh. I see. Yeah. That’s useful. I have this in the MPC 1000 with JJOS. It’s super fast to build beats.
Well after lots of thinking I deleted C3 and Zenbeats off my iPad and am sticking with Logic as my main DAW. I’ll still mostly be in AUM but when it comes to working in a DAW environment, I just find myself reaching for Logic every time now.
While LP4i may not be my cuppa, it certainly is a wonderful DAW environment there's no denying that.
Probably one of the only subscription apps I consider worth subbing to, that and Auxy Studio.
I have the free Auxy app and actually quite like it! Never got the subscription one though.
Logic is definitely worth subbing to, I agree. The amount of features and loops, samples, etc is great. I’m not sure what it is but something about it clicked with me recently and it made it hard to go back to any of the others. I guess because I was so used to GarageBand and Logic is basically that on steroids.
This is really strange.. payed again 1 month sub back in july (needed to do sone tests of BS) - it expired in early august ..
Thing is.. Logic is still fully working :-)))) Sub is now more than month expired but no sign of Logic on my iPad noticing it lol 😂😂
Hmmm…
That’s unethical of you to use LP4i without paying poor Apple for this! 😀😀😂😂
i am bad person, i must admit 🤣 .. but i use it exclusively just for testing of BS when dome bug is reported, isn’t that sufficient excuse ?? 😂
I decided to do monthly subs for now. In my case it stops working exactly a month later.
But I think I remember reading you had a similar experience after the free month?
Edit: found the thread https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/56467/logic-fully-working-after-trial-expired-wtf
yes, and now it happened again
Maybe you've got an infinite subscription! 😂
Apple is fanatically trying to get you on board
They really need to add a save button. I’ve lost multiple good takes twice now. My new workflow is, do a good recording session, then leave Logic running on my iPad while I do dishes for 20 minutes to give it plenty of time to auto save.
Or hit the < button in the top left then reopen. Not a perfect solution but quicker than doing the dishes ;-)
Logic on Mac has versions so you can revert to a previously saved project or backup. I hope they add that to the iPad version too. Saves a lot of hassle when you suddenly realise you’ve spent the last hour making everything worse
Can’t you just close the project, which saves it. Then duplicate before you open it again (just to be sure you have an unaltered backup).
In my experience Logic is ‘constantly’ doing auto saves. Had a few crashes but after re-opening always offered very recent auto-saved projects.
lol yes 🤣

The second time I lost my recordings was doing this. I hit the > button intentionally to save my work, and it failed to save, while still closing the project. I’m curious if Apple has documented how often the auto save refreshes. That would be nice to know.
Oh that’s great to know that we probably have revisions coming. I always struggle to find a balance between how many times to save, how many times to create a manual duplicate.
Well, with that, we can expect an update/fix soon..
I’m assuming you’re still using logic yeah? I’m really warming up to it a lot these days. I see the hype now lol
Yeah, Logic Pro for iPad is unbeatable if we look at the whole shebangs in comparison to Cubasis and Roland Zenbeats…
Speaking for myself, the first thing we tend to do with a new DAW is to try and do something we are used to doing, in the same way we’re used to. Which usually ends in a lot of frustration.
Sometimes we see enough to want to keep digging in and working out the strengths of the app and learn to adapt our approach to the new way. Sometimes we don’t get past the first impressions that it doesn’t do what we want in exactly the way we want it to. And then come here and complain about how crap it is as it doesn’t do exactly what we want it to in the exact way we wanted it to work.
I’m lucky that it is Logic Pro released on iPad rather than say Reaper or Live as I already got past the ‘doesn’t work how I want it to’ stage about three decades ago. And if I recall correctly it was quite a struggle to get on with Logic in the early days. But I knew it was worth the effort as the main features that made me want to try it in the first place were truly ‘game changing ‘ at the time.
I’d definitely be in camp ‘frustrated’ if I had to learn a new methodology.
A lot of the things I see people complaining about with Logic are things I can understand but on the whole don’t slow me down so much as the rest of the app is exactly what I’m used to, other than using fingers and thumbs instead of a mouse and keyboard.
I fully understand the frustrations too. There are certain apps I’ve tried on the iPad that were nothing but frustrating for me yet loved by others around here. Some apps I think are objectively awful, others just subjectively so. But all awful none the less
And I’m pretty sure the EULA from Logic v1.0 I agreed to at the time makes it illegal for me to even look at Cubase. ;-)
So yeah I think Logic for iPad is the mutts nuttts. But I can understand why not everybody thinks so. Even when they’re wrong.
As a mobile studio on an 11inch iPad it’s the most delightful / rewarding experience I’ve had since I was a teenager. Not for everyone…but definitely for me…so grateful about that
I have a friend who has used desktop logic for many many many years. Since early 2000s, and even he had his mind blown and has moved form all desktop to 50% iPad after Logic for iPad came out.
