🤣 i mean patterns are a priority! Work is gonna be fine 😜
I was on the beta team and I have to say this has made me lose all my gear lust for Digitakt 2
I can’t wait to hook it into some mirack patches too add percussion!!
I’ve been enjoying exporting sounds from Alexander Zolotov’s Relic Waves/Flow, Fractal Bits and making glitchy electronic perc loops with P3.
Available in Canada!
The beats are now in the America
Already managed to crash a mult-out session in AUM. Was messing with the “timeline” section, tapped on the first square on the timeline and BAM!
Thanks ! Yes I was just alerted to this yesterday and have a fix for it… hopefully next week it will be published.
Patterning warm up….with its new best friend hammerhead. Just a first round jam… can’t wait to really dig in and create a more interesting melody for these drums…..this app is so fun
What is the easiest way to "load" all the drum kits into Patterning 3 that I've picked out from the cloud kits while using Patterning 2? I want to have the same selection of cloud kits available to me.
Looks like there's an *.onpd file in the Patterning Drumkits folder that needs moving over, along with the Samples folder. But the files in Patterning 2 don't seem to be accessible?
Yeah, I'm not seeing any Patterning 2 folder in Files.
Also, in the Patterning 3 manual it says "Patterning Drum Kit files can be imported from version 1 & 2, however they are not backwards compatible."
I'm not sure what that means.
It does! Although AUv3’s can’t send midi out to other tracks. But iirc they can do multi-out audio.
Heeeeey! Just found our very own @Krupa ’s Valve kit in the Cloud kits! Excellent
Ah great, lots more to come when I get the chance, just distracted by earthly issues at the moment…
Wow this is a great app. So deep, but the UI is very good.
Is there a way to get rid of the massive pattern name that encroaches into the top bar of the main screen on an 11 inch iPad? Tempo/metronome etc controls are partially covered up. These controls are still just about accessible, but messy and hard to see! I’m hoping there’s a way to either remove the pattern name or at least move it, so that these controls are properly visible.
Other than that, I’m loving the app so far!
European prices for apps these days are crazy. 35 euros for an IPad app even if it is AAA is way too crazy for me. Don’t get me wrong I’ve spent thousand of euros for gear and software for the pc\mac but iPad apps increase of prices in the latest two years are way too crazy.
Nah, we were spoilt for too long.
Hi Charles! Tbh I think the main problem is that previously prices were just too low and that simply wasn't sustainable given that this niche has not exploded in popularity the way people perhaps thought it would when it first started. The nunber of people seriously into making music / noises or whatever on iOS is pretty small it seems. The loss of value of the euro and pound in recent years, compared to the dollar, doesn't help either though, nor does Apple's decision regarding pricing apps in the EU / UK at basically the same number as their dollar prices, even though the dollar is worth a fair bit less than either the pound of the euro. Apps on the Chinese store, for example, are priced a fair bit cheaper than the Euro / Gbp prices. That part is out of the control of devs though.
Everything in the whole world has gone up, why wouldn’t an app? These guys work hard, do you expect them to work for free? That’s like a few cups of coffee or some beers.
+100
Can you audition samples?
Plus, this app is leagues above the quality of the average iOS music production app, tbh. Superbly designed, beautiful to look at and to use, very full-featured. Must have been a phenomenal amount involved, and the price should reflect that.
Yes there is a little speaker icon in the file viewer box, hit that.
💯
+1 This is one of the rare exceptions where the price reflects the quality of the app and the work that went into it. It is priced appropriately (and also it was 33% off on rollout).
The thinking, vision, implementation and execution to successfully create such a complex yet still intuitive and easy to use interface for such a powerful and rich instrument is nothing short of amazing and unique talent.
The dev is a very cool dude who painstakingly went through an incredibly arduous process before release, and anyone who was looking for a drum machine/sequencer, you would be hard pressed to find anything as good on any platform. I’m still learning the app but so far it’s more fun and less frustrating to use Patterning 3 more than any other drum program I have.
I have a strong feeling, unless some insane Hilda synth comes out, Patterning 3 is going to be app of the year
(And since they folded, I think Eyal/Modalics was going for THIS when they came out, but they fell short and couldn’t compare, or compete at this point anyway. Does this mean ALL indie devs should ALL start charging a minimum of $20? NO WAY! That would kill what we have going on completely , but every now and then we have to support an indie dev for the price they are asking so they can sustain our ecosystem , but this one deserves his fee)
Hear hear!
It’s a fair point about app prices going up, but it’s why I am. Using less apps these days. Although I will pay top dollar for a select few must haves. If AUM ever gets automation, @j_liljedahl can pretty much name his price. And I willingly paid the premium for Patterning 3. So much more than a drum machine, so many free kits to download… worth every penny.
P3 has many great features, but it's randomisation that really elevates it for me - the ability to easily dial in all kinds of real time variation to avoid boring loops and create interest.
