  • WTF did I mis something? I can't save my own presets?

Maybe all this indecisiveness will be gone when that other monosynth drops. I just hope it'll support iPad4.

    Which one's that?

I can't get off the fence with Cyclop, and it's all down to price as there are other apps on my 'to buy' list as well. If I'm going to buy it then I might as well get it soon though - they're unlikely to put it on sale yet and even of they do it'll only drop the price by a few quid.

You save your preset by reopen the app, You must save it first, then reopen.

  • Doesn't work. All my changes are gone if I reopen or change the preset.
    I'll try to reinstall.

  • @monzo that single vco, 8x oversampling, several filter models, analog chorus, analog drift, BeepStreet one.

You don't have to restart anything to save patches. You click on the disk icon, it brings the popup, you then change the patch name to whatever you want, click "done" and it asks if you want to save, say yes. From there you need to click on the disk icon that's in the popup and it will bring up the save prompt again, click save that time and it really does save.

Still wondering why you need an"analog drift"if there's just one OSC and no polyphonic play.I was a bit disappointed about this announcement to be honest.

@Greg:Sugar Bytes is aware of this preset saving bug. Will be fixed in the next update.

Save author name, you need to reopen

  • Nothing needs to be reopened...I have saved several patches without reopening anything. The patch name saves as whatever I named it. I am not changing the author, I only care about the patch title.

I'm always doing this after working on an Init patch, but I doubt that matters at all.

  • @calcutta: same as kaikoo here. To be able to use the saved preset, and see it as you saved it in the list, you need to restart the App. Sugarbytes are on it, they said, next update...

I imagine it will make the oscilator sound unstable in a very subtle way which will make it more 'organic' sounding - that's just my uneducated guess.

@animal Just confirmed that, I had just been writing patches and saving them and going on to another Init patch. Hadn't recalled any of the patches on the same go-round, I guess.

  • AH HA! Can't even save your own patches! Extreme-self-justification for not buying it yet until the fix comes down the pike when surely as a sop to self-obsessed buggers like me they will also bow low and offer a special price. And cookies.

I know, ridiculous, a complete deal breaker. Probably.

You can save your own patches right now...and play Space Invaders ;)

    1. Save the preset (click the little disk icon next to the preset name in the centre/top of the screen - then some metadat stuff comes up you can change if you like, then you need to click to save again and you'll get a pop-up where you name your preset). So it's a 2 step process remember.

    2. You won't be able to recall this preset if you move to another preset. selecting it won't load it. It's a bug. You need to close Cyclop.

    3. Reopen Cyclop and that preset will now be available to load.

  • Anyone has any idea why the speaker goes orange color, and sometimes cyan color, other times it is completed grey?

  • Good question. Some kind of limiter?

Does Cyclop have a limiter do we think? I see the EQ bars going into the red quite a lot with a lot of patches.

It shows you that the main volume is being modulated by a positive - cyan or negative - orange amount or not at all - grey

  • No problem. Most of the modulation destination knobs have lights like that on them, only those 2 arrows in the routing section don't but you can see them moving.

  • See! thank you! The volume modulation light bulb.

  • @Kaikoo, @CalCutta, @Crabman, @animal, @Matt_Fletcher_2000

Thanks guys, I got the work around, but I hope they fix it soon. No regrets for buying it, it's awesome!

Dear Cyclop users, I only know the green tank robot changes the presets randomly if being hit when you play the game! How about other robots being hit! What part of the Cyclop functions is being modulated if you hit those colorful robots on purpose? So that you can use the game to make a useful preset patch mindindly! Can anyone tell me what the grey, cyan, orange, green, pink robots represent individually ? Thank you very much your kindly reply.

  • Now I had the time to play with this beast two looong sessions yesterday/today and i really like it.Very unique and inspiring just to"play"with it.Often enough you think"now where did THAT came from?"and that was exactly what i was hoping for.It delivers also great earthshaking basses and has some really nice filter.I'm definitely not disappointed.BUT there is also still a lot of shadow. Not only the known bugs like the preset system (i also don't like the system,a bit confusing for my taste)but i played it in Cubasis all the time and often enough some weird things happened.with the internal sequencer and no...that was not intentianal by design ;) If the sequencer goes crazy all i can do is close/reopen the app and pray that the sound you were last working on was saved correctly.Even more weird:It happened also quite often that the app just quit working without doing ANYTHING.Example:going to the fridge to get a drink and when i came back (ipad was not in standby and cubasis sequencer was stopped)it just stopped working.I mean,i could still press buttons, turn knobs and even open the preset menu but whatever i do,it just don't react. No sound as well=more closing/reopen the app.All of this happened with no other IAAs running inside cubasis, just some internal FX.It is VERY annoying.I'll send them another mail tomorrow and hope they will sort it out asap.I was also quite disappointed about the presets. Most of them are just harsh, brutal and cheap/digital sounding (extra disappointment:the handful of Mouse on Mars presets). So much crap there, sometimes less is definitely more...But if you start making your own sounds (that's what i prefer anyway)this thing will start to shine. And it's fun to edit this thing because of the"surprise effect".Interface is quite nice,i got used to it very quickly. Some dropdown menus/buttons are very small but i had no problem to use them. All in all i would recommed it but there are still some real showstopper inside.

  • @Crabman Haven't splurged on this yet, but good to hear your feedback Mister Crab...

  • I noticed the presets could do with a trim when trying the PC demo - incredible amount of chaff in there. Don't like the sound of those bugs and crashes. I'm impressed I've managed to resist this so far, though it makes it easier when I hear about the bugs - I've got enough of those already.
