As well as the OP being lovely, I really enjoyed this contribution 👍👍
You know when you've hit a nerve when people automatically begin justifying their reflex defense of white supremacist structures without anyone asking.
Anyway, to switch topics, @sevenape, it would be nice to learn more about your workflow/apps/effects chains, if you'd like to share!
@NeuM, I think I made a pretty good case about Ts similarity to H and their shared psychopathy. As far as Covid is concerned, T dealt with the Alpha strain. Much earlier where masking and social distancing would have been effective. He admitted to Woodward ON TAPE, how deadly he knew it to be.
It is not Biden’s fault that people think it is their inherent right to not get vaccinated and to congregate heedlessly. (Lol, but not to have the right to an abortion). Covid is an evolving disease and most of the world is not vaccinated. Hence, mutations that are more transmissible and potentially resistant to current vaccines. Biden cannot control people’s behavior. Don’t get me wrong, I think Biden Harris are doing a poor job overall. But, unlike Trump, he does not brush the seriousness of Covid (and it’s long haul aftermath) under the rug, push phoney cures, corrupts the CDC, or manipulates statistics.
It is my opinion that you are on the losing end of this argument. Of course your opinion is the opposite. I don’t expect to change your mind as you cannot change mine. This is just political entertainment with no consequence. Just as Fox’s or MSNBC’s jubilation over this and that stupid fuckup by the other side obfuscates the machinations by threat of violence to change the composition of election officials from school boards on up. Orwell would be proud of these characters, and those more intelligent forces who see the overall strategy to subvert the truth… just as Goebbels did…. They are living up to Gorge’s unpleasant expectations,
In both our favor, neither of us are politicians!
They’re obsolete aside from ornamental display, in the brave, new, world.
👍
Hahah yes!
Ooh my main workflow… if you can call it that is basically use koala sampler or gauss to record some loops, in this case played with decent sampler for the guitar parts. There’s a fender, some violin style plucking, not sure what it’s called!
and some bowed guitar, all free sample packs from pianobook. Get a bunch of loops going… here I had about 6 I think this time all in different instances of varying lengths of gauss so they would play asynchronously. I also had a drone going on in shoom and one in Mononoke. All of this was routed to rymdigare, lunar lander, fac alteza, K7D and one clean channel which were all in turn routed to tape pro. This is more or less how I do everything these days. Bringing loops in and out, adjusting effects and saturation and stuff like that live while recording. It’s all a bit slapdash really!
I think you are on shaky ground making psychological diagnosis based on books or your ex gf's opinion (presumably she wasn't Mr. Trump's shrink).
HOWEVER....
You are certainly correct that Trump is an odd ball. That much is obvious. Exactly how odd or the nature of the oddness is hard to tell. How much of his posturing was just him and how much was playing to his fan base?
My concern about Trump is that I think he is a threat to US domestic security. I didn't feel this about other Presidents (Dem or Rep) in past years.
My problem with Trump is not his policies (you can either like them or dislike them - same as any politician). My problem with Trump is that in the last half of his Presidency he attacked and eroded the pillars that support US democracy & a stable society - the intelligence services, the media, and, incredibly, the electoral system.
Presidents and Prime Ministers should never do this.
It was a demonstration that he was "prepared to wreck the place" to get his own way.
So, instead of comparisons to Hitler or pop psychology from books I will stick to judging people by their actions.
Except they are not.
They actually pass laws that we all have to live by.
Who "is and is not" elected has consequences for all of us.
I am not a fan of Trump so it is hard to defend him BUT that quote was unfairly used against him. If you watch the full speech (which lasts about 2 minutes, too long for most stations to play in the news) Trump is talking about the local people wanting to protect their statues and they (the local folk) are "the good people" on the other side he is talking about - not the violent right wingers.
Where did I see the whole 2 minute clip? On the "Planet America" program on the so-called "left wing biased" ABC TV Australia. They played the very long clip and pointed out the truth of what Trump said (not very left wing of them).
The other quote Trump is unfairly characterised by is the "proud boys stand down and stand by" quote.
When you examine that clip Trump is clearly caught off guard and he says he is happy to denounce the white supremacists. But he can't think of what to say. So he asks the interviewer specifically who or what should be condemned. He is told "the Proud Boys" and Trump ad libs a sentence and simply gets the words slightly wrong. He is no genius slipping a secret "Q Anon" message - he just mangles the words a bit because he is on the spot and not reading from a script.
Trump is good with words sometimes as he comes across as brash and a regular guy who is prepared to tell it like it is. But he also is bad with words when he says something and it is not exactly clear what he is saying. During his years as President there were times I read quotes from him and the quote could be interpreted several ways - each with an opposite meaning.
The most powerful man in the world needs to communicate clearly without confusion.
I mostly agree with everything you've said here.
Do you think that he won the 2020 election?
Do I think Biden won the election? He's President, isn't he? No matter how it happened or what one believes, Biden is in fact President.
Mr. Simon, very often ordinary people are called to make a judgement about a person’s mental status… like on a jury of his peers where the defendant’s life hangs in the balance. Psychological experts are called and the jury must determine if the
accused is sane or not. Additionally, Mary Trump is not my gf or a pop psychologist. She has had the opportunity to observe T up close and personally.
Additionally, how would you characterize the man you describe above… a man who is willing, by your admission, to wreck democracy and it’s institutions to get his way? A man who doesn’t care if people die in blue states? Who has no remorse for any action he makes? Do you really think he would not commit murder if it filled his pockets and he thought he could get away with it? If you think he wouldn’t… well, I’ll leave it at that.
Maybe this will help our collective understanding of psychosis.

So, I ask you once again, do y> @NeuM said:
In your opinion, did he legitimately win the election?
It is a simple question.
Or is it more a case of the incurious grifter not understanding the system?
He’s never displayed a facility with complexity.
Ha! I wasn't asking if Biden is the sitting President. Clearly, he is.
I was wondering if you thought Trump really won and the election was rigged.
Why exactly is this so important to you? Does it bother you to imagine that other people don't believe Joe Biden is a good President? Does it concern you that people no longer trust or believe the "institutions" which regularly lied to them for generations?
And America went through 4 years of media, intelligence agency and Democratic party fraud and lying about the prior President... how much trust are people supposed to have for any of these people and organizations now?
If President Trump "really won" he'd be President. That Joe Biden is President is not a point of argument.
Is it interesting that the exact same Democrats who screamed for 4 years that "the Russians" influenced the election and helped Trump cheat then scoffed at the idea that Joe Biden and the Democrats could've cheated. If cheating was possible and/or likely under Trump how did it become impossible for the next guy?
The mind boggles at the thinking behind this absence of logic.
No, the jury don't decide if someone is sane. The experts decide that and the jury takes that advice into account when considering a conviction. Not the same thing as "ordinary people are called to make a judgement about a person’s mental status".
Yes, Mary Trump's views are worth listening to as she is family. As are Donald Trump's views on Mary. I don't know either of them personally.
I have characterised him in an earlier post as someone "prepared to wreck the place" to get his own way. Sorry if that's not strong enough for you but that's my view and how I wish to express it. Surely you can tell that I have major problems with Trump and the way he does things. I have described him as a "a threat to US domestic security". If you want me to spell it out to you: I don't like Trump.
Publicly speculating if people might possibly commit murder doesn't really help political discussion. As I said before, I prefer to stick to judging people by what they actually do or don't do. Maybe that's where we differ.
These are good points you are raising here, Simon.
I am guessing that you do think Trump was cheated by electoral fraud but you don't want to open that can of worms on this thread. That's ok. You don't have to answer if you don't want to.
My take on it is that if Trump was cheated it would be the biggest political news story since Watergate. Any reporter, left or right wing, would give anything to get that story.
Watergate made reporters Woodward and Bernstein international news superstars. They were made for life financially and career-wise as a result of that story.
So, the Trump fraud story would be pure news gold. But nobody has presented the story. Nobody has uncovered wrong doings. And there have been many court cases that have failed to establish fraud. They didn't even get close.
Why? Because it didn't happen.
If it did, the right wing media would be all over it. Naming names. Detailing the cheating. Demanding people go to jail.
But they are not. Because it simply didn't happen.
Like many you are probably not aware of just how fascist the anti-fascist movement (or Antifa) really is at its core and as an inevitable outcome of their misguided beliefs. Its part of a long process of subversive alterations of society’s language. For example most believe the dangerous false dichotomy that the poles of the “Political Scale” range from “Communism” (left) <-to-> “Fascism” (right), with their only supportive evidence being the that pre-WWII there was opposition and conflict between Hitler’s Nazi Socialist Party and the Communist Bolsheviks which was framed by western subversive intellectuals as yet another brick in their Hegelian Dialectic trap, along with Moral Relativism, that has the effect of ensnaring one, whether “coming” or “going” (left or right), in an underlying collectivist type system of centralized State control, knowing that once total control over “The Means of Production” is established “ownership” is an inconsequential detail that powerless and thus politically meaningless. Since Communism is defined as State ownership (which has implied control) over the means of production and Fascism is defined as State control, but private ownership, of the means of production the true poles of the Political scale places: “State” -Left- (representing Collectivism premise) <-to-> “Anarchy -Right- (Individualism). These polar positions are expressed, Ethically by: Left = “Common Good” by force (actual violence or the threat thereof) Right = “Individual Good” by voluntary consent.
In conclusion, given the fact that just over the previous century over 100,000,000 (100’s of millions!) people were slaughtered (not counting the billion plus that only suffered from torture, famine, and unimaginable loss) in the name of Communism and a quarter that under Fascism, etc.. Artist need to fucking stick to art and stop dabbling into politics, they don’t understand, in order to be fashionable or just “sarcastic” as if it were funny or even witty, when in reality, to one awake, they see yet another copy of a copy of a copy pretending to be original. I apologize but the time for being quiet and allowing this shit to go by, unchecked, is over and should’ve never started. These ideas (mental viruses) have tragic consequences when the infection takes hold and spreads, as we are now witnessing (at least to those that know what it is they are seeing). I don’t mean covid or flu hype but the larger cultural war that is raging. Thank you for considering my request.
Sorry, @simon, you are creating a Sophistic argument. The jury, indeed, decides the fate of the accused. Otherwise the Constitution would say in a trial where sanity comes into play the jury must be composed of psychiatrists. It is a right, in this case, given to the common man /woman to decide if there is reasonable doubt using points of evidence and their own common sense.
Frankly, it is no difference to me what you, or anyone else here “believes” except as entertainment and mental exercise. As I am sure this is true for you as well. Armchair prognostication about political events… and here I would say, just like you advise me about mental diagnoses, that unless you are an “expert” trained in the history and the practice of politics your opinions are personally derived from your own beliefs, invented/adopted narratives and perceptions of what the “truth” is. Anyway, we are nothing more than armchair “experts” and what we say is merely cheered or booed by the respective sides.
Whether there was fraud or not, or the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency are beside the point. It is distraction from observing a sick individual seeking his own ends no matter what the cost to others.
T uses his base… he wouldn’t be caught dead associating with them… to grift them, whip them into a xenophobic, racist frenzy and divide the populace for his sociopathic ends.
It doesn’t matter to me if @NeuM believes the election was rigged or not. I have even received some flack for calling him a “reasonable” person whose persistence in the face of this liberal minded juggernaut called ABF is worth noting.
What matters, IMO, is the profligation of political leaders who trade their personal integrity for the gold ring. Who will sacrifice the tentative semblance of liberty and the rights of others (at least as defined by the Constitution… for, honestly, “human rights” are a man made thing and have nothing to do with abstract truth which doesn’t give a shit either way) for pathetic personal advancement. In the pursuit of my own personal belief, that the world would be a better place without Trump and his enablers, I call a spade a spade, as I see it. It is simply my own common sense, based on what I observe, that informs me of the nature of Ts mind. It is no better or worse than anyone else’s. It is merely a personal choice,
Just consider this… we are bags of water with a few minerals and yet, no matter which side we are on, we elevate our beliefs to the status of gods. My favorite quote by Emerson… a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. We are all perpetrators of “consistency theories”. Just my opinion, of course.
True. Why do we bother? LOL
Agreed! I’ve noticed the lack of political discussion in the past weeks. Maybe it was for the best. Have a peaceful weekend 🙏🏻
Appreciate the comments. I have my own theories why artists and musicians (and entertainers in general) tend to lean toward collectivism… because those in the arts are usually poor (I was once quite poor myself) and collectivism provides a fast and easy answer for being poor, which is: Wealth and goods are taken from others via force of the state and taxation to distribute to “all”. The problem with this view is it only works until the society collapses from all the “taking” and “redistributing”.
And this trend toward collectivism has regrettably spread fast, far and wide because of COVID. Fear and mandatory shutdowns accelerated all of it. And I think it’s also important to note that more than HALF of the US population does not pay Federal taxes, which has led to an entitlement mentality that is extremely damaging to the cohesion of the people among the States in the US.
Peaceful? It's the big Bathurst weekend - V8s on The Mountain. We're on lap 70 of 161.
Haha, we never have all the information to draw a correct conclusion.
I haven't read many of the posts in this thread but i will because this topic is very interesting to me. I find it a tragedy that many on the alt right side think that they are the smart ones, the unmanipulated ones, the undeluded ones. It's like they walked out of the matrix and into an even worse matrix. I've been spending quite a bit of time in crypto telegram groups recently too, and while they can often be amusing, it is shocking to see the underlying racism, sexism, antivax, antimask etc sentiment that is rife in some areas of that space.
In terms of what's been happening in the US and the west in general (though the post-war 20th century was really led by America, both in soft power and in hard power) there have been no greater eye openers for me than:
Adam Curtis documentaries (freely available on YouTube). Particularly The Century of the Self, Hypernormalisation and Can't Get You Out of My Head
The book American Rule by Jared Yates Sexton - this is basically a very readable 'dark history' of America. If you search his name and 'American Rule lectures' on YouTube you csn also find aome video talks he did on some of the stuff from the book, but they are really no substitute for it.
Anything by Ivan Illich, although he is much better at criticising the status quo than suggesting solutions.
The Ascent of Humanity by Charles Eisenstein, which is similar in concept to Illich but on a much broader level and a lot more readable.
Any podcast discussions with Daniel Schmachtenberger, in my view one of the smartest thinkers alive today. He is very enlightening on the pitfalls of applying evolutionary thinking to modern man and the topic of existential risks of the developed world.
It is also important to dig into a bit of economics and philosophy to understand the errors (actually more likely deliberate lies in my opinion) in Neoliberal free market economics, particularly Austrian economics. Economics is generally or perhaps even always political ideology masquerading as science.
