Did they really raise their prices or was it just a marketing ploy?
Actually not sure. I already owned a fair amount of their plugins and I don’t remember what the prices were or know what they are now. I think I remember Replicant 3 going up for sure.
According to AppSliced, the price went up on Enso Looper (per the original message) but not for any of the other apps. TBH I’d consider several of their apps to be underpriced in today’s App Store, especially Other Desert Cities and Eos. OTOH I get the feeling that the devs got an earful from the community when they announced the price increase the way they did, so they may have decided to stop kicking the hornets nest for a while.
Definitely didn’t have the warmest reception 😂
But I agree, their apps can do a lot and sound amazing and are actually very cheap compared to what other apps are being sold for now. Under $10 for a delay like ODC is a steal.
There is a word for that: ultracrepidarianism.
ultracrepidarianism
"The habit or act of giving opinions on matters outside the scope of one's knowledge."
Yes despite some bugs etc here and there and the fact that CR either is a bit of a knobend or just has a sense of humour that many people don't get, Audio Damage have brought out so many fantastic apps at great prices. Always worth buying.
"AudioDamage to raise and lower prices intermittently"
Totally agree - their apps are great, and I’ve always thought the price is good whenever I have bought them.
+1 ODC is my go to delay, so many delay types in one package, and it’s helped in my case by the default being exactly the type of delay I’m usually after, unless I’m after the kind of grit you get from the AudioThing delays. The granular delays in ODC are wonderful, too. The thing is a bargain.
Agreed. ODC, Eos 2, Replicant 3, Phosphor, and Quanta are just incredible. I’m a big fan of Adverb, Ratshack, and and Axon 2. I guess I like them all 😂 except the 2-3 I don’t have.
Same! That’s how I ended up with so many, the prices are just too reasonable 😂
If I could only have 1 delay it would be very hard not to choose ODC. Magic Delay is another really amazing one.
I’ve enjoyed Chris’s patter over the years, his occasional AD blog was always pretty good value back in the RSS days. I can see how he winds people up though
Yeah, really! They have been irresistible pretty much every time.
Yeah I mean I totally understand the sentiment in the original announcement that started this thread, but I also totally understand why a lot of folks were offended. It wound up coming across as collective punishment in reaction to a few bad actors. Better to just say "our pricing isn't sustainable so it's going up" and keep the commentary about reviewers to yourself IMO. If he had said that I would have nodded my head and said "that's fair" and moved on, and I reckon a lot of others would have too.
There’s a 40% off sale on right now, until September 1st.
Only on desktop I think no?
That seems to be the case.
Eos 2 still cannot save presets.
Ah, I didn’t notice that. Still, I grabbed Dubstation to match the one I already have on the iPad.
Definitely. But I know those (often baseless, uninformed, and sometimes petty) negative reviews can easily get under your skin. For sure a better way to have handled it though I will say some of the negative reviews for apps I’ve seen have made ME mad and I’m not even the developer lol
There are probably just 2-3 plugin which are almost always included in every single track I make and one of them is ODC.
Grind is free (discontinued) but also seems broken. Preset menu doesn’t consistently respond for me, algorithm, filter and shaper buttons are all totally unresponsive all the time. See, sometimes cheap (I bought this back when it wasn’t free), comes at a price lol
To be fair, I think when they made it free it was because they’d made it unsupported. But still annoying if you’ve paid for it.
Same. I didn’t get it until it was free and figured since they said it was no longer getting updated there would be issues but it does kinda suck not being able to dive into all that nastiness lol
Sure, I read online that it was made free because they'd stopped supporting it. Anyway, I think Bleass Fusion is probably a more interesting modulated distortion than this is, so not really that much of a biggie. Wonder of it was still working when they stopped supporting it...
I think it was iOS 16 that broke it, but I’m not sure as I don’t have anything running 15 to test with.
Lol “hey boss Grind isn’t working, we need to work on an update to fix it, right?”
“Nah let’s just make it free and forget it exists” 😆
I like grind though. It works now as a set it and forget it basic distortion though I rarely use it. BYOD, Saturn 2, Lo-Fi from Nembrini, and now Fusion are my usual go-tos. And Shaper 2 of course.
Running fine on iPadOS 15.5
