The .iws file I exported is quite large -- 11.4 megabytes. So it must be saving much more than a single bank of patches.
I'm playing with the full app. Since this thing can sequence waves, where is the BPM control? I threw it into audiobus, and it doesn't come up as Link enabled either...
Does wavestation show up in the "open in" system dialog?
I don't have it yet.
I tried to bring in a SysEx file using "open in" via dropbox. I couldn't get it to work. iWavestation didn't show up. That's why I had to use iTunes.
I made this as a quick live demo in Gadget (one instance of Milpitas only - and some Tokyo drums at 52secs).
But most of the percussion and texture is from the Milpitas wave sequence!
I think this app is fantastic.
I couldn't get it to use "open in" for the syx or the zip
Oh well, it was probably a bit too much to expect it to be a hardware editor as well...
It's a good update request though....
I know I'm talking to myself, but Milpitas DOES honor Gadgets BPM for its sequences. Not sure how this would work stand alone though.
Tempo source can be Internal or Midi Clock
See Manual p58
I'm listening!
That's good news re: Gadget.
Anyone found a way to say patches/wave sequences in Gadget? Would be rather weird if you can't. Although to be honest, the way I'm using it so far, they are so mad and distinctive I think I'd only ever probably use one in one song.
It's the last entry in the settings menu.
Ha! I just read that in the manual just now - thanks. LOL...
Guys how many IAP cards are there for sale?
Or, maybe they're doing a "soft launch" for a paid beta release... if no one reports any serious issues after a good general shake-out by the hardcore fanatics, they'll do a bigger, big splash with print ads, etc. in a couple weeks. That way, if there's anything thing broken that they missed, they can push out a fix before wide-release.
Just a theory.
Never mind just saw the info

This thing has so many layers to it. Mind blown. I haven't even touched the joystick yet
Thanks very much for checking. I see know that the app store's description has been updated and it no longer contains the phrase "Interoperable with the Original Wavestation".
Official video is out:
You weren't wrong about the intern who's already sleeping with the fishes...
If you long press on the random button you can select what kind of random elements you want: Waveseq, Drums or Full
A very 80's Genesis vibe going on in that one.
Good tip, thanks.
Anyone know:
how the 'range' button works in Gadget? Seems broken to me. Can't be changed.
how to add new parts to a wave sequence in Gadget? Maybe you are stuck with the random button or the presets?
I was thinking, maybe, they mean for you to craft you wave sequences in the standalone version and save them there. Then import to Gadget?
I skipped the arp but this one is persuading me to buy an iTunes card and buy. Will get on this tomorrow. Thanks for all the info guys.
Digging it a lot though I'm feeling a little slighted by the removal of "Interoperable with the Original Wavestation" at some point in between when I purchased it and when I tried it. It was my primary reason to buy it.
I want more granularity with random function. I'd love to be able to keep a wave sequence's fades but randomize the waves, for instance.
Would also really like to be able to set the loop range when editing a sequence without going to and from the loop screen because I'm lazy and short attentioned like that.
Maybe one can already do both of those things?
Looking forward to experimenting more with mapping keyboard tracking to wave sequence start position. Love how easy it is to do some of the neater WS tricks on this big touchable screen. If you haven't, do experiment with the settings screen where you can set a loop length and number of loops. You can have it start at wave 5, loop waves 3–8 (4) times and then it will play the rest of the sequence through, for instance.
If it can't export to hardware, I'm not sure I get why they're keeping around old OS/memory limitations like number of sequences and waves per card and the like. True vintage vibe? Make IAPs more packagable?
I'm hoping we'll see a quick bug-fix to Gadget because in the Video the X&Y pad on the Korg NanoKey Studio works as expected while in the 'released' of Gadget version the Y axis is reversed, so up on the NanoKey Studio is down while left and right work as expected...
I have thought that of several demo videos that I have seen! I believe that Tony Banks used a Wavestation on the We Can't Dance album, but that can be the only one as the WaveSration was only released in 1990, and that's the only Genesis album (except the underrated Calling All Stations) that was released after that.
Yeah that's what I thought
Don't know if I am missing the obvious but where is the midi channel select? Am using this with other apps I.e. Patterning and want to control it from my midi keyboard. As soon as I start for example patterning the app is being triggered from patterning as well as my midi keyboard. I looked in the manual where a heading says global midi channel but there is no explanation in the manual or in the settings part of the app that I can find that I can set a specific midi channel.
Kinda think this may be an oversight and Korg will update but maybe I'm just missing the obvious.
I noticed that too
iWavestation now on Korg's site : http://www.korg.com/us/products/software/korg_iwavestation/
