Also, this follows the sale price being $39.99 (the price when I bought it) — before it dropped a day later to $29.99, which was bloody irritating. Not a fan of these guys, and it's making me wonder whether Saturation X is really worth it....
I posted this on our forum too, but good to reiterate here especially if some folks are having issues accessing/etc our forum. Please note the following:
I paid full price for both desktop and iOS versions and both were worth it... when they work. For some reason the desktop version has been crashing without a reason I can pinpoint.
Thank You for letting us know...
...hopefully it'll be sorted out soonish.
My MixBox CS is register at IK and entering the serial from there gives an error.
(That would be one of easiest ways for you to check if the 'free' download belongs to a registered user).
I sympathize with everyone experiencing this problem right now. It's a bad error no matter how it happened.
@NeuM
Thank you for your enlightening remarks and your
patronising explanation of which the latter wasn't needed.
How you ever heard of the word commiseration or compassion?
Some of the users who have posted are friends and acquaintances.
My comments where in empathy.
They have been stung and they are trying to figure it out and you
are also included because I am aware you purchased MixBox CS as well.
What is your problem now, guy?
Dude????
There is a thing called self awareness.
Anyway before we derail the thread let's keep it on topic.
IK multimedia needs to sort this out.
Thanks> @IK_Multimedia said:
Seems more enticing… buy as you go..
Nice..
I am still on the old version. Probably a good thing?
Thanks @ikmultimedia for the headsup
There's a statement... I'm still at a loss what you're going on about.
Thanks for the feedback, folks.
I'm wildly speculating here but I guess the 'free move' is to get it in hands of everyone and allow granular IAPs (ie. only get the modules you're interested in) and who knows, it may go subscription at any time
A fully functional free app with add-ons is a good strategy for developers who can afford the upfront development costs. Moog is doing a great job with this strategy. If subscription becomes a model, I'm out. I don't do rentware, except for TV/movie subscriptions.
I think the free with IAP model is beneficial for sales as it's the closest thing we get on iOS to demo versions.
As for the granular IAPs IK does the same thing on Desktop, IK release free "CS" apps which allow you to buy the content piecemeal but you can still buy collections or "MAX" products with everything included, usually for a much reduced price. Especially during sales. They've also done the same with Amplitube on iOS. You can buy the components one at a time or buy collections, or the whole lot in one go.
Talking of which, hopefully @ikmultimedia will release the next version of Amplitube as an auv3.
Hopefully IK will not go subscription.
So do I update or not…will Mixbox stop working?
I'm waiting. You'll lose access to all the modules other than the free ones until IK fix it.
Do NOT update until IK has sorted out the 'issues'. You'll loose most of the effects...
Holy cow this is epically bad lol
It's not great, but on a positive note they are working to fix the problem.
Glad it’s an error at least although a big one. I’m very glad I didn’t update though
The issue is there since 20 hours??? No need to become crazy IMO. If they fix it quickly enough, and they say they work on this, it’s ok. Those things can happen. That being said, I’m happy to be an Audiobus forum member and to not have updated it yet. In a professional work, that can be a BIG issue. NEVER have automatic updates enabled is necessary.
It's 10:00 pm in Italy right now. How many companies have their developers working around the clock?
On Twitter just now:
Hold on...
So IK must have thought it would be easy for existing paying Mixbox customers (like me) to restore a "full suite" IAP that we never actually bought??
I'm no genius, but surely the 'free with IAP' version should have been released as a separate app ...though i guess that presents other complications when they want to offer future IAP add-ons to existing Mixbox owners.
It shows that they don't do enough tests before release. Poor dev. @IK_Multimedia
Most of their apps have similar price structure but I thought this was a weird decision as well…
I'm just happy this was a mistake, I've become pretty mixbox dependent
MixBox
Inside the app it says full unlock $29.99 but on the App Store page under the IAP info it says $79.99
Which effects come for free?
