Wise words, sir.
Wow, I didn't know about that. Completely unacceptable - I'm surprised this didn't cause more of a stink.
They didn’t convert syntronik to a subscription, but they did add a subscription option. You can still buy the full thing via a single IAP unlock and you definitely should not have lost any previous purchases.
If you did lose your devices you should keep badgering support until you get them back.
It was Probably a similar issue to this new fiasco — definitely not something that was done on purpose but IK should work quickly to resolve all these issues for sure.
Cheers buddy.
Thanks for the heads up! Auto -update might’ve already bit me so we’ll see. I really wish they would’ve just released a new app if the wanted to do the in-app purchase thing. Leave well enough alone for seasoned users.
I love y’all @ikmultimedia but I think this was a bad move.
Will family sharing plans get to use mixbox still? Will the IAP possibly ruin prior mixing sessions if it affects how the modules load with a purchase verification?
This would’ve made way more sense on an instrument app like sampletron or B3 so users could sample a patch or two to see if it’s worth the price of entry for them.
How does this affect family sharing. Are IAPs still a per account deal?
Requested and received refund on MixBox “accidental” double payment. So I have the full app and only paid the $40-odd for the full shebang back in December 2020. Have all records of purchase. Curious to see what happens with future updates. Will deal with that when the time comes.
It is up to the developer whether their IAPs are family shared or not.
@Fingolfinzz I’m sure you have but have you posted on IK’s forum/ reached out via email. They have been nothing but helpful each time I have done that, even going as far as to gift an app or IAP of my choice to rectify a situation. Sorry to hear this - that is frustrating.
Yeah I should probably try some more, I just felt like I tried so much and just got burnt out on it cos it was only about $20 worth of presets I had on there. I’m definitely venting a bit but I’m sure if I kept at it they’d get it all fixed up for me
I can‘t restore in-app purchases when I update MIXBOX,and my presets is gone…
DON'T REBUY!
Read the thread!
(You can get the gist by starting on Page 23.)
I just Update my MIXBOX, but doesn’t paid again.
What happen now???
@jcdream they are working on a fix, you can find all the details by reading from page 23, as @ExAsperis99 noted
This is why I don’t have anything from IK and I don’t understand the hype about the “shit-sales” on desktop
When I saw the info about the new update something told me not to do it, soooooo glad I listened to my gut this time and decided to wait. But I’m still wondering what the benefits would be even if there weren’t issues with the iap for people who already bought the full version. Is there anything new? Any new effect modules?
I decided not to buy IK again until I saw B-3X with the very unusual one time purchase. Then I decided to give MixBox a try when it was on sale a month ago. I got it thinking well they don’t have all these terrible typical IK IAPs like the other apps do. Well, looks like that might change. We’re they making it free with IAP in order to help people so they can try it free first? Or were they making it IAP because they are going to start requesting money for more features. Maybe both. If it’s the later then I hope they are some pretty good features.
Fortunately I’m not so affected by this as I had only barely just started learning the app. It sounds like they are trying to fix it quickly anyway. I expect an update soon.
Nothing, only“reliability improvements“.Whatever that means though,i don‘t have problems with it (yet).
IK delete my post when I just post the in-app problem on their forum.
PLZ UPDATE SOON!!!
That shouldn't happen as it was promised on original release there would be no IAP for MixBox. Was this the plan all along? Who knows. It looks like they pulled a swiftly to me especially if you look at the typical Custom Shop IAP type sales methodology. Good swindle IK.
There's already a thread on it and IK don't seem to like people posting duplicates...
https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29099
Post your question in there if it hasn't already been asked. If it has already been asked, just keep an eye on that thread as I expect they'll post news there pretty soon after it's available.
I’m just waiting until the inevitable shift to “this is greedy Apple’s fault”…probably this time next week
if IK multimedia listed each fx unit as an NFT, we wouldnt have had this problem, shame on them!
Sure we would have. The servers hosting the NFT's would be down
Well... it is their fault... before iOS people weren’t hooked on updates
Not fan of IK... MixBox was my first purchase from them since amplitude 1.5 on desktop... but I like it and would even get IAPs if it’s something I need/like - like a UAD platform on desktop. Not familiar with their CS though, if it isn’t simple and clear I’m happy with what’s already there
Well that is what I get for being lazy and turning on automatic updates. Now MixBox is unusable... oh wait, I've been busy playing around in Loopy Pro and haven't fired up my newly purchased MixBox since the Black Friday sale anyway.
Maybe I should try for a second refund? Seems the "low" price got in the way of my ambition not to purchase any new apps that I don't use anyway.
I have enjoyed IK Multimedia products, but the hassles of their pushy registration and restoring past purchases linger in my memory. And get in the way of scratching another itch to buy the latest products, like MixBox.
It's totally not like it's Apple's fault that people who got screwed by updating to a broken version can't just go back to the previous version.
