Well, I admit my gut reaction to this one was "Wow. @Samu has been talking about nothing much else for months now. If he couldn't go below 200 after all that effort and attention, then it makes no sense for me to even try." 🙂
Seriously though, 200 is certainly less than some of the big numbers here, but it's still a lot - way larger than an immediately manageable number. Maestro, I think I must credit you with making me accept my fate and make peace with my plugin army. 🤝
Sorry - didn’t get it.
Maybe because I came from a very international dinner (India people from Germany, Russian from Greece, Bavarian from out of Bavaria).
Where I have to do that keyboard-„switch between text input and emoji input“-thing??
Part of the 'problem' to get bellow 200 AUv3's is caused by many of app bundles including multiple AUv3 extensions.
So I'm kinda happy with 200 'apps' in total so far (that includes social media apps, apple stuff, graphics and video tools, utilities and a few games etc.).
The real irony here is that I don't really miss any of the apps I've deleted...
...and that makes me wonder why I got them in the first place?!
(I know the answer, it is/was a 'learning process' and I've learned a LOT over the years).
The befit with the app-cleanup as I see it has been that it takes the guess-work out of the equation when selecting which plug-in to use.
Before I consider getting new apps consider what it will add to what I already have.
As far as I know the central AUBE database is quite big and it would be a blast to be able to do some 'crate digging' to find apps that I've not bumped into yet..
Could you add a feature where a message pops up whenever I try to buy a new app (other than FAC ones, of course) and tells me I don't need it because these XX other apps can basically do the same thing?
If you use a host that supports the custom keyboard thing, I think it’s well worth it even if there were no new features added. It’s reminded me of so many apps I’d forgotten about and when I’m choosing eg. A reverb I can quickly see all the reverbs I’ve ever owned at once without having to remember them.
Buying apps and exploring them is more like a hobby for me. I'm over 500 auv3 plugins. But 95% of my iPad use is writing, practicing and exploring. Desktop is where I'm most comfortable creating.
It would need a ‘hide from wife’ mode if it did.
I would say that the average price for an app is between 5 and 10...so the calculation is easy 👍🏼
All details here but make sure to read to the end. It's about a 5-min read:

Same! My AUBE shows 137 apps, and I'm relieved to see it could've been way more.
Now imagine AUBE's evil twin. An app that shows you all the AUv3s you don't have yet. Nicely categorized and with sale notifications.
Future update material for sure! @FredAntonCorvest
Oh ok I see, i wasn’t sure how to get it open, cheers man.
Quick question… does one submission cover all unknown apps from each category ?
Yes..... Its very easy. Basically if some of your apps show up as uncategorized (I think from memory they're shown in the 'default' section) you just press submit and the rest happens automatically. There's zero effort needed on your part. Then in a future update they will appear properly categorised etc.
I go to the general page and tap submit for the uncategorized apps and nothing happens.
“Submit your audio units” is greyed out.
Am I right in thinking that Cubasis does not support this feature? (As far as I can tell it just shows a list without a search function).
Because - I'm guessing - you didn't specify a nickname, which I mentioned was necessary in a previous post. Try that and see if it works
If so, maybe time to switch to aum 😜. Or ask the devs to implement The same search bar. God, no search tool would drive me absolutely bonkers.
I think you’re right. I just tried and I can’t see a search box.
There're two reasons that keep me out of getting this: one, that Cubasis still (and unbelievably) doesn't have a search feature.. and two, the future subscription thing i read in the description 😑
Except currently there's no Reverb category, so you won't see only your reverbs (which I hoped for with this app). Instead you will see every app in the so-called Time category, which apparently includes reverbs, delays, loopers, samplers etc. A very different proposition. Combine that with the display, which only shows 4-5 apps without scrolling in the keyboard window.
All this means that, in its current form, the practial usability is not yet there for my use case, which would be "show me my reverbs, and only my reverbs, so I can remember them and quickly pick one of them".
The keyboard extension as managing interface, while a genius idea, feels a bit clunky in actual use, when you need to switch between keyboards to type or display stuff.
Disclaimer to everything above: ...unless I'm doing something wrong which may well be the case. 🙂
I'm hoping this comes across the way I mean it, which is honest and well-meaning criticism, not dissing the app. I'm glad Fred started this project, it is something so many of us needs and I hope more sophisticated categorisation (including user-defined categories) can be added along the way.
Good point on the time categorisation. I’m hoping a reverb category will emerge but I stand corrected.
Edit: you can filter by reverb though by hitting the filter icon
@CapnWillie did u enable it as a keyboard and select it as the keyboard as detailed in the website instructions?
Can't emphasise enough everyone that you really need to read the very short description on the website to understand how to use this properly.
Yep... Lumping everything in those various categories as time-based is not helpful. The more people send requests to Fred asking for changes the more likely they are to happen. He's not very active on the forum
Well, credit where credit is due, he has been fairly active in this thread. 🙂
BTW both things I mentioned in my comment (categorisation and keyboard interface) have already been mentioned in the thread so he knows about these requests.
Here’s a quick video of finding a reverb:
Some of these I wouldn’t necessarily include, but categorisation will get better.
It seemingly includes offloaded apps as long as you re download them once for AUBE to scan.
Yes there is too wasted space on the iPad, I already thought about a collection for a future version. The list make the porting between iPad, iPad Floating and iPhone easier but this space should be filled indeed.
Keyboard and text field (host of any kind, very general) can not communicate easily for obvious privacy and security reasons. But, the global search feature in iOS provides a kind of search and go feature. You probably already found that, you enter the app name and tap return and boom the app is opened. I know how to do that from the keyboard but it requires that the tetxfield set some states of course. Cross fingers
