In my opinion, the magnifying glass button is a wrong design choice.
1. It is not clear what it does
2. Tapping on it seems to do nothing except changing the background color
3. The iconography/symbol is known for "search"
4. The solid (blue) background button is known for an action
5. Therefore we expect "Execute search" when pressing the button

What it really does:
It switches the text output between "App name" and "App Store link" when tapping on an app icon.

• Solid (blue) background = App name
• White background = App store link

Here is my idea, while maybe still not perfect, it should make things more clear while keeping in mind that used space is crucial.

• Keep the rounded rectangle button as is
• Remove the magnifying class icon
• On the top half, inside the button, write "NAME"
• On the bottom half, inside the button, write "LINK"
• If name is active, the top half has the solid (blue) background
• If link is active, the bottom half has the solid (blue) background
• The inactive half should be unselected (grey)

With this it should be more clear what the button does and, at the same time, which output mode is active.

Or, requiring more space, use two connected buttons, side-by-side. Like [NAME|LINK]
Or, the maximum version, add the title "Output:" in front of it. Like Output: [NAME|LINK]

Ok, maybe not possible because this would require a keyboard inside the AUBE keyboard.
Or it is possible and just a big challenge because of space and required redesign? 🤓 Maybe two switchable views?

Adding the quick search to the keyboard is indeed something I want to do in the future, but it's more challenging, because we can't use the generic keyboard into a custom keyboard. I will probably end up by creating mine (only English as the data are only in English) and gather everything in the existing one. So it will be maybe a bit like the emoji search.

Yes I should update the button, it's indeed not clear enough. Again please contact me via the support, I track every request and I keep my backlog prioritized.

The new version of AUBE is already very different from the first release, there are a couple of new features asked by users: offloaded apps, tags, randomiser, quick search… My goal is to continue to add more, and to improve AUBE. I try to balance my working time between AUv3 plugins, AUBE and any other activities related to FAC

I've got AUBE installed and don't nearly use it to the potential, but I went looking tonight for a rather simple function that it seems to lack. Has nobody ever requested just a full dump of all installed AUv3 on a device? I'm surprised to not find it. Looks as if I could export a list of my "favorites" but not a list of everything installed. I suppose I could take some screen shots, but ...

Use Case: I'm away from my iPad and want to know what audio units are installed on it. If I could export a list from AUBE to my iCloud drive, then the information is theoretically always within reach even when the device is not.

@kidslow : +1 to that! A hard copy print out of all my apps would be very handy, as the biggest problem I have these days is remembering what their names are.

I noticed Buzz Zone is not in Aube. Is there a process for submitting apps or adding them manually?

To to General tab in AUv3, then choose Submit Unknown Audio Units and it will automatically submit all the AUv3 units on your device that are not on the system. Not sure how long it will take before they show up in updates tho, could be months I think, you could always email Fred to ask

I just picked up the Eventide reverb bundle on the sale (had blackhole previous)

Blackhole, MangledVerb, and Spring show up in Aube fine

But ShinmerVerb isn't appearing at all. Like, not even as an unsupported app. Can't find it on search either

I have submitted a handful of ''unknown audio units", and those have popped up via search, before being added

(Tried an iPad reboot, to be safe. So dice)

Any words of advice?

Just a typo here in the post. Getting "MixBox" back for a proper Shimmer search, but still no ShimmerVerb

(Note: I read and typed Shimmer too many times and it looks VERY wrong now)

Fred emailed back saying it should be fixed in an update, hopefully tomorrow!

ShimmerVerb is back with an update available yesterday!

Also updated to Chord Generator - newest of the apps I had that was still unknown til the update
